Grand Designs Live, 2006
Descriptions are given here of some of the planting used on the sustainable landscape I designed for Grand Designs Live 2006 at ExCel, Docklands, London. The planting was restricted by availability for the show, so I have also included here species I would have used if available (bulleted lists)! These lists are by no means exhaustive and many other plants would have been suitable.
Trees
- Black Walnut - walnuts
- Bird Cherry wild cherries
- Common Birch - sap (ferment for wine!)
- Hazel, common & purple
- Amelanchier - fruit
- Cornus Kousa - fruit
- Elder - berries
- Sweet Chestnut - fruiting cultivars
- Hazel and Filbert - named cultivars
- Fruit trees - peach, plum, apple, pear etc

- Mahonia - most produce fruit
- Berberis asiatica, darwinii - fruit
- Vaccinium - most produce fruit

- Cornus mas, sanguinea, canadensis (herbaceous) - fruit
